Costa suffers broken nose in training

Costa has returned to form since Guus Hiddink's appointment as boss

Chelsea striker Diego Costa has broken his nose in training but is expected to be fit for Saturday’s game with Newcastle.

The Spain international suffered the injury as he jumped for a header with a member of the youth team taking part in first-team training.

Costa will wear a facemask to protect his nose to allow him to play against Newcastle at Stamford Bridge.

Blues boss Guus Hiddink said: “He put his nose on the back of the head in a duel. He was very unlucky.

“They will give him a mask today [Friday] and he will do some light training.

“It was a very small incident. But it’s very fragile when you have your nose on the back of a firm young man.

“I think he will be available [for the Newcastle game] but we must see how he will react.”
