Chelsea hit back to reach Youth Cup final

Chelsea’s Under-18s staged a brilliant comeback to beat Tottenham 5-2 at Stamford Bridge and 5-4 on aggregate to reach the FA Youth Cup final.

Trailing 2-0 from last week’s semi-final first leg, the holders were dealt another blow when Shayon Harrison scored for Spurs after half an hour.

But the hosts came storming back with goals from Dominic Solanke and Izzy Brown making it 2-1, and Chelsea took control in the second half to ensure they reached the final for the fourth consecutive year and the fifth time in six years.

Solanke [pictured] scored again and Charlie Colkett netted twice, including a penalty, before Harrison pulled a goal back for Spurs late on – also from the penalty spot.

Chelsea, who will face Manchester City or Leicester in the final, grew in confidence after Solanke scored his 30th goal of the season to bring them level on the night five minutes before half-time by firing home from Brown’s cross.

They scored again just before the break, Brown applying the finish after Tottenham had failed to clear Colkett’s corner.

The young Blues levelled the tie six minutes into the second half when Solanke headed in Ola Aina’s cross after a flowing move.

And after finding the net at the near post from a clever free-kick, Colkett scored his second of the night when he converted the penalty after Aina had been fouled in the area.

Harrison set up an anxious final eight minutes by scoring from the spot after Fikayo Tomori was adjudged to have handled, but Chelsea stood firm.
