Southampton set to sign Romeu from Chelsea

Chelsea midfielder Oriol Romeu is on the verge of a permanent move to Southampton.

Romeu, 23, is close to signing a deal with the Saints after the two clubs agreed an undisclosed fee.

The Spaniard has not played a first-team game for Chelsea since suffering a serious knee injury at Sunderland in December 2012.

After making a recovery, he spent loan spells with Valencia and Stuttgart but is now set to leave Stamford Bridge for good.

Romeu began his career at Barcelona before joining Chelsea as a 19-year-old in a £5m deal, and went on to make 33 appearances for the Blues.
