Chelsea’s Ivanovic back in training

Chelsea defender Branislav Ivanovic has returned to training following a recent injury.

Ivanovic, 32, had been nursing a knock but was given the green light to rejoin the rest of the Blues squad.

However, boss Antonio Conte has hinted that the Serbian might not feature in Wednesday’s EFL Cup match against West Ham.

And Cesc Fabregas is still unable to train fully because of his injury problem.

Conte explained: “Ivanovic is better. He started to train with us from yesterday and then again today.

“But it is normal after an injury that he needs a bit of time to find the right shape to come back.

“Cesc is still not well. He has a muscular problem and we must wait. We must be patient, but I hope to see him back with the team very soon.”

Chelsea were handed a huge boost on Monday evening when Kurt Zouma took an important step towards a first-team comeback following his long-term knee injury.

Zouma played for the Blues’ development side in a 2-2 draw against Derby.
