Mikel back in Blues squad for QPR game

Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho has confirmed that John Mikel Obi is available for Sunday’s west London derby against QPR.

The Nigerian midfielder, 27, recently had knee surgery and has been out of action since the Blues’ win at Aston Villa on 7 February.

He returned to training last week but was not considered for Saturday’s game against Stoke.

But the Premier League leaders, who are without injured striker Diego Costa, will be able to call upon Mikel and Cesc Fabgregas at Loftus Road.

Fabregas suffered a broken nose in the Stoke game but has been given the all clear to play, although he will need to wear a protective mask.

“Only Diego is injured. Everyone else is ready,” Mourinho confirmed.

“Mikel is ready. Fabregas has a mask but is ready too, no problems.”
