Chelsea v Hull City player ratings
Willian scored twice and Olivier Giroud got his first Chelsea goal as they cruised into the quarter-finals of the FA Cup. Here’s how we rated each Blues player in the 4-0 win over Hull.
Willy Caballero: 7
A mere spectator until called upon to face David Meyler’s 51st-minute penalty, which he duly blocked. Produced a couple of saves after that as well.
Antonio Rudiger: 6
Will not have had as many comfortable nights as this, but was still nearly embarrassed when outpaced by Jackson Irvine during a rare moment of Hull danger.
Ethan Ampadu: 6

An ideal match for only the youngster’s fourth start. The teenager looked calm throughout.
Gary Cahill: 6
Under little strain and able to divert some attention towards mentoring Ampadu and joining up with the attack for a pop at goal or two.
Cesc Fabregas: 7
A sumptuous through-ball set up Pedro for Chelsea’s second but a rash challenge on Harry Wilson gave away a penalty at the start of the second half. Usual array of defence-splitting slide-rule passes. He bossed the first half.
Danny Drinkwater: 7

Enjoyed himself – mixing no-nonsense industry with smart crossfield passes and link-up play. Almost beat Hull keeper David Marshall with a low strike in the second half.
Davide Zappacosta: 6
Would like to have had a greater say in proceedings but almost got on the scoresheet in the second half during a breakaway with Callum Hudson-Odoi and Willian.
Pedro: 6

A crisp finish for goal number two and might have had a second after Willian presented him with a chance. His night’s work was over early, as he made way for Hudson-Odoi at the break.
Emerson Palmieri: 6
Passed a little under the radar on his debut at left wing-back, but it was a decent contribution nonetheless and he set up Giroud’s goal.
Willian: 8

Tormented Hull, curling in a beauty from the edge of the box after less than two minutes and rolling in Chelsea’s third just past the half-hour mark. Also set up Pedro in a lightning break and was only denied a hat-trick by the post. A classy display.
Olivier Giroud: 7
Very close to opening his account with a volley over the bar and a stretch to miss a Drinkwater cross by inches, but got there in the end with a close-range tap-in for the fourth.
Callum Hudson-Odoi: 7

The young striker again looked exciting after coming on and he set up a late chance for Willian.
Kyle Scott: 6
Came on in the second half for his senior debut and showed some nice touches.
Alvaro Morata: 6
Brought on for the final 20 minutes and looked sharp.
