Antonio Conte wants Chelsea to try to sign Alexis Sanchez from Arsenal, the Daily Telegraph say.

The Telegraph say Conte wanted Sanchez during the summer transfer window and has recommended him again.

The story is based on comments made by the Italian at a news conference on Friday, when he was asked if other clubs should compete with Manchester City to try to sign Sanchez.

He replied: “No. If Manchester City wants him, then they buy him. They don’t have concerns about money and this investment.”

But he also described Sanchez as “a good investment” and added: “We are talking about a top player and you can buy him for a price not so high.

“The amount is around £20m. Maybe a normal price for Alexis Sánchez is €80-90m. This is my opinion.”

The Telegraph suggest Conte’s comments show “he does not know why Chelsea appear to be letting the opportunity pass” and that “he continues to give the impression that he is far from satisfied with the efforts of those responsible for signing players.”

Blues linked with Arthur Melo

Chelsea have been linked with Gremio playmaker Arthur Melo.

It comes after Gremio reportedly pulled the plug on a deal for Melo to join Barcelona, apparently paving the way for him to move elsewhere.
