Cuadrado’s future is unclear – Conte

Chelsea boss Antonio Conte has admitted that Juan Cuadrado’s future is unclear.

Conte previously indicated that he wanted to keep the Colombian, who has so far been unable to establish himself as a first-team player at Chelsea and spent last season on loan at Juventus.

However, Italian media reports this week claimed a deal for Cuadrado to return to Juve on loan was close to being agreed.

And the winger’s agent Alessandro Lucci is due in London to discuss Cuadrado’s future.

Conte said: “For Cuadrado, we are waiting. The situation must become more clear about his position.

“Now he is a Chelsea player and today he trained with us.”

Cuadrado, 28, was not in the squad for Monday’s win against West Ham, fuelling speculation that his future lies elsewhere.

“The matter is not easy. I’m flying to London to try to unblock the situation,” Lucci told Sport Italian on Thursday.
