Costa off the mark in Chelsea win

Diego Costa scored his first Chelsea goal as they came from behind in impressive style to beat Slovenian team Olimipja Ljublana 2-1 in their fourth pre-season friendly.

Jose Mourinho’s side struggled to create chances before the interval and trailed to Nik Kapun’s thumping strike.

But Chelsea, who had Cesc Fabregas making his first appearance, looked much sharper after the interval.

And the Spaniard created the equaliser for his compatriot when his pass was brilliantly smashed in at the near post by Costa.

Kurt Zouma, who once again stood out in defence, then made it 2-1 with an instinctive shot into the roof of the net after Fernando Torres saw his curled strike parried out.

Branislav Ivanovic looked to have made it 3-1 when his bundled close-range effort crossed the line after a Zouma header was superbly saved, but the goal was controversially ruled out.
