Conte again insists he wants Fabregas to stay

Antonio Conte has reiterated that he wants Cesc Fabregas to stay at Chelsea.

Fabregas, 29, has been linked with a number of European club ahead of the January transfer window.

Both the midfielder and Blues boss Conte have previously denied that Fabregas has been told he can leave Chelsea.

Conte was again asked about Fabregas’ future at a press conference on Friday.

And the Italian said: “As I have said in a previous press conference, Cesc is a good player and is part of my squad. I want him to stay here and I don’t see nothing (changing).”

Conte was also asked about the future of John Mikel Obi, whose contract at Stamford Bridge expires at the end of the season.

Mikel has not featured under Conte and is unlikely to be given a new deal, and there have been reports that the Nigerian will be allowed to move on in January.

Conte said: “The situation is simple; he’s in the squad and is staying with us and we know that at the end of the season probably his contract is going to expire.

“I don’t know what will happen. Now he’s part of this squad. If I have to talk about a contract for players I prefer to talk with my club.”
