Antonio Conte has reiterated that he has no regrets about letting Ruben Loftus-Cheek or Tammy Abraham leave Chelsea on loan this season.

Both players recently made their England debuts, with midfielder Loftus-Cheek earning rave reviews for an excellent performance against Germany.

Injury problems have left Chelsea short of midfield options since Loftus-Cheek was loaned to Crystal Palace, while striker Abraham has impressed on loan at Swansea City.

However, Blues boss Conte firmly believes spending the season away from Stamford Bridge is best for the development of both players.

Conte said: “I think we are talking about two young players – two really good players – and for sure Ruben and Tammy will be the future for Chelsea. Now it is right for them to play regularly.

“For Ruben, it’s perfect for him to play this season – important for his development – and then to come back and play for Chelsea with great maturity.”

Conte believes the example of Andreas Christensen is one youngsters at Chelsea should look to follow.

Defender Christensen has established himself as a first-team player this season, having spent the previous two campaigns on loan at German club Borussia Mönchengladbach.

“It (going out on loan) is the same option for Christensen. He played for two years on loan and is now playing regularly for Chelsea,” Conte said.

“Christensen is showing himself to be an important player for us and is playing with great maturity.”
