Chelsea boss Antonio Conte said the decision to drop centre-back Davis Luiz from the squad against Manchester United was purely tactical and not because of a row between the pair.

The Brazilian was part of a much-criticised Chelsea defence which lost 3-0 against Roma in the Champions League in midweek.

Luiz has played the last two games with a heavily strapped leg and was replaced by Andreas Christensen.

But Conte told Sky Sports: “It is a tactical decision. There is Christensen in really good form and then also Ampadu who is a really good young player in the club so we like to play with the young players at the club.”
