Chelsea’s Youth Cup win over Leicester: three stand-out performers

Chelsea Under-18s reached the FA Youth Cup semi-finals for the eighth year in a row after a 1-0 win over Leicester.

Here are the three players who stood out as the Blues won at the King Power Stadium on Wednesday.

Ike Ugbo

The match-winner. He timed his movement on to Reece James’ cross perfectly and got the power on his header to beat Leicester keeper Cameron Yates, making up for a miss from close range a couple of minutes beforehand. He also worked hard to keep play in the Foxes’ half as the clock ticked down.

Trevoh Chalobah

Chelsea have not conceded a goal in their run to the semi-finals – often they dominate games to the extent their defence is never threatened, but Leicester did see more of the ball than Cardiff, Birmingham and Sheffield Wednesday. Chalobah was solid as a rock, shutting the door whenever the Foxes threatened.

Mason Mount

Continually impresses. Looked composed on the ball and was busy in the centre of the park. He always looked to make things happen, particularly early on when he was the most influential player on the pitch.
