Chelsea youngster making ‘great impact’

Crewe boss Steve Davis says Chelsea youngster Alex Kiwomya is starting to making a big impact for the League Two side.

Kiwomya, 20, has scored six goals in 12 league games for Crewe, including against leaders Plymouth on Saturday.

He suffered a dislocated shoulder at Grimsby in mid-September, ruling him out for a month, but netted on his first game back and Davis believes the winger is showing his true potential.

Davis told Crewe’s official website: “Alex is getting back to the level he showed before he suffered his shoulder injury.

“He is getting back to form and he took his goal extremely well on Saturday. It was a very composed finish from him again.

“He needed a bit of time after missing a number of weeks and it does take a bit of time from a psychological point of view when you suffer an injury like that.

“He is still young and learning his trade. He is using his pace effectively to get at his opponents and has had a great impact for us this season. He now looks like he is getting back to his early form.”
