Guus Hiddink has confirmed that Chelsea plan to complete deals to sign Alexandre Pato and Matt Miazga.

Brazilian forward Pato, who has been offered to several English clubs in the last year or so, is set to sign on loan from Corinthians with a view to a permanent move.

The 26-year-old, who was previously at AC Milan, arrived in London on Thursday and interim manager Hiddink insisted the move is still on course to be finalised despite an apparent delay.

“He is in London. It’s no secret,” said Hiddink. “It’s in the process of bureaucratic paperwork and we won’t rush.”

The Dutchman added: “It’s not a gamble, because coming on loan makes it possible to have a good view on him and whether he is able to adapt to the high demands of the league.

“If you buy players it’s more of a risk. Coming on loan is good for the club and good for him.”

American defender Miazga, 20, is poised to sign after a deal was agreed with New York Red Bulls.

“We’re not rushing but he (Miazga) will be one of the squad members for the future,” said Hiddink.

“He’s a young guy and it is always good to have such players here and see what they can do.”
