Chelsea training ‘better than ever’ – Mourinho

Jose Mourinho says the disappointment of making a winless start to the season has inspired Chelsea’s players to perform “better than ever” in training ahead of Sunday’s game at West Brom.

The champions drew at home to Swansea on the opening day of the campaign and were beaten 3-0 at Manchester City last weekend.

And Blues boss Mourinho says that has triggered a determined response from his squad.

“We normally train very well but I think this week we have trained better than ever,” he said.

“Why? Because we are not happy. The players are not happy with the results and I am not happy with results.

“We want to be better. There’s only one way [to improve] and that way is to work better than ever, which is what we did this week.”

Chelsea have been further boosted by the arrivals of new signings Pedro and Baba Rahman, although Mourinho is unsure whether they will feature at The Hawthorns.

The injured Oscar remains unavailable, while keeper Thibaut Courtois will return in place of Asmir Begovic after serving a one-match ban.
