Chelsea to appeal against Matic red card

Chelsea are to appeal against Nemanja Matic’s red card in Saturday’s 1-1 draw with Burnley.

The Blues midfielder was sent off for pushing Ashley Barnes following a challenge from the Clarets forward.

Chelsea have until 1pm on Tuesday to submit evidence to the Football Association.

If the appeal fails, Matic will be suspended for Sunday’s Capital One Cup final against Tottenham as well as league matches against West Ham and Southampton.
