Chelsea are assessing an ankle injury Pedro picked up during the goalless draw with Arsenal.

The Spaniard was substituted at half-time at Stamford Bridge and boss Antonio Conte is not sure whether Pedro will be available for next weekend’s Premier League match against Stoke City.

“I don’t know. We have to check with the doctor. I hope this problem is not serious,” said Conte.

“Pedro has a bad ankle and he wasn’t 100% fit. For this reason I decided to make a substitution for the second half.”

Chelsea are also in action on Wednesday, when a number of squad players are expected to play against Nottingham Forest in the EFL Cup.

Eden Hazard, whose comeback from an ankle injury continues, is also in contention for the Forest game after coming on as a substitute against Arsenal.

Meanwhile, Conte backed Alvaro Morata after the striker endured a frustrating afternoon in Sunday’s derby.
