John Terry is unavailable for Chelsea’s derby against Tottenham on Saturday and could be sidelined for three weeks.

The Blues skipper, who has not been in the starting line-up for recent matches, picked up a gluteal muscle injury in training this week.

Terry, 35, recently returned to contention following an ankle problem and had been hoping for a recall to the side.

“For tomorrow, John Terry and John Mikel Obi are not available,” Blues boss Antonio Conte revealed.

“John has a problem with his glute and Mikel has a muscular problem.

“It (Terry’s absence) will be maybe two or three weeks. I don’t know, but I think this.

“It’s important for John to recover from his injury and start good training sessions.

“It is a pity, because he recovered very well from the last injury and now he needs to start again.”

Tottenham, meanwhile, have injury concerns ahead of the derby, as left-backs Danny Rose and Ben Davies are both unavailable for the game at Stamford Bridge.

Rose is suspended, while Davies is still recovering from injury.
