Chelsea sign former Arsenal star Fabregas

Chelsea have signed former Arsenal midfielder Cesc Fabregas from Barcelona.

The Spain international, 27, has agreed a five-year contract and returns to the Premier League after three years at the Nou Camp.

Arsenal had first option to buy Fabregas but declined to re-sign him, paving the way for the Blues to make their move.

“I considered all the other offers very carefully and I firmly believe that Chelsea is the best choice,” he said.

“They have an amazing squad of players and an incredible manager. I am fully committed to this team and I can’t wait to start playing.”

Fabregas, who is currently with the Spain squad at the World Cup in Brazil, began his career with Barca before joining Arsenal in 2003.

He spent eight years with the Gunners and made 305 appearances, scoring 50 goals.
