Chelsea demolish Man City to win Youth Cup yet again

Chelsea beat Manchester City in a one-sided second leg at Stamford Bridge to win the FA Youth Cup for the fourth year in a row.

Trevoh Chalobah, Ike Ugbo, Callum Hudson-Odoi, Dujon Sterling and Cole Dasilva scored as the young Blues won 5-1 on the night and 6-2 on aggregate.

It continued Chelsea’s remarkable record in the tournament; they have reached seven consecutive finals, winning five of them, and this is the third successive season in which they have beaten City in the final.

With the tie level at 1-1 after the first leg in Manchester, Chelsea made the perfect start on home soil, going ahead after just six minutes courtesy of Chalobah’s thumping header from Mason Mount’s right-wing corner.

The second goal of the night, scored on 24 minutes, was a beauty.

Sterling stormed down the right and delivered a cross towards Ugbo, who acrobatically hooked a volley over his shoulder and into the net – his 10th Youth Cup goal this season.

Lukas Nmecha pulled a goal back for City early in the second half but Hudson-Odoi restored Chelsea’s two-goal cushion with a fine individual goal, dribbling his way into the penalty area and then finding the far corner of the net.

Sterling then made it four by firing home following another marauding run down the right-hand side.

And Dasilva completed the rout by pouncing on the rebound to score after George McEachran’s shot had been parried by keeper Arijanet Muric.
