Chelsea confirm signing of Miazga

Chelsea have completed the signing of New York Red Bulls defender Matt Miazga.

The 20-year-old centre-back has signed a four-and-a-half-year contract after the two clubs agreed a fee reported to be around £3.5m.

The one-cap USA international does not require a work permit as he also holds a Polish passport, and also played for Poland’s Under-18s.

Miazga has made 46 appearances for Red Bulls, playing alongside the likes of Thierry Henry, Tim Cahill and, latterly, former Blues winger Shaun Wright-Phillips.
