Chelsea have confirmed the arrival of former AC Milan and Brazil striker Alexandre Pato on loan until the end of the season.

The 26-year-old joins the Blues from Corinthians and is the first signing of boss Guus Hiddink’s second spell at Stamford Bridge.

Pato has spent the past two years on loan at Sao Paulo, scoring 19 goals in 62 games in the Brazilian top flight.

But he is best known in Europe for his five years at Milan, between 2008 and 2013, during which time he helped them win Serie A, the Uefa Super Cup and back-to-back Fifa World Club Cup titles.

In 150 appearances, he hit 63 goals, although only six came in the Champions League.

Pato scored on his Brazil debut, against Sweden at Arsenal’s Emirates Stadium, and won the last of his 27 caps in 2013.

He also played in two Olympic Games, helping Brazil to bronze in 2008 and silver at London 2012.
