Debut for Zouma as Chelsea’s youngsters shine in pre-season win at Wycombe

Kurt Zouma made his Chelsea debut and youngster Isaiah Brown scored twice as the Blues opened their pre-season campaign with a 5-0 win at Wycombe.

Patrick Bamford, John Terry and Branislav Ivanovic also got on the scoresheet in the testimonial for Wycombe stalwart Matt Bloomfield at Adams Park.

After impressive loan spells at MK Dons and Derby, there is plenty of interest in how 20-year-old striker Bamford fares this season.

And he showed his finishing ability by volleying in the opener after being found by Nathan Ake’s left-wing cross.

Teenage defender Zouma, signed from St Etienne last season, came on as a first-half substitute to play at right-back after an injury to Todd Kane.

Chelsea took control early in the second half, scoring twice in quick succession.

Brown netted after being set up by Jay Dasilva before Terry volleyed home from Jeremie Boga’s corner.

Another Boga set-piece led to the fourth goal, Ivanovic redeeming himself by heading in shortly after missing a sitter.

Brown scored again late on, rounding off a fine display by curling the ball into the top corner from just outside the box.
