Chelsea boss reveals Cech injury scare

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho praised Petr Cech’s commitment after the goalkeeper was named as a substitute for the 2-0 win over West Brom despite being injured in the pre-match warm-up.

Cech, who has lost his place to Thibaut Courtois in the side this season and has started just four games, hurt his back but still provided back-up to the Belgian.

“Petr was almost was not going to be on the bench,” Mourinho revealed. “But he put himself available – even with the problem he had in the warm-up.”

Mourinho expects Cech to be fit for Tuesday’s Champions League game against Schalke.

There has been speculation over the 32-year-old’s future, with Arsenal among the clubs reportedly interested in him.

However, Mourinho insisted this week that no approach had been received for Cech, who has been at Stamford Bridge for more than 10 years.
