Antonio Conte had to make a late change to the Chelsea side ahead of their victory against Brighton.

The champions won 2-0 at Stamford Bridge, where Gary Cahill was deployed at the heart of the defence because Andreas Christensen was ill.

Antonio Rudiger played in Cahill’s usual position on the left of the back three.

Blues boss Conte explained: “At the last moment Andreas Christensen was sick and we had to find the solution of Cahill playing in the middle with Rudiger.”

Goals from Alvaro Morata and Marcos Alonso gave Chelsea a deserved win in a match they dominated.
