Cahill sits out training with minor injury

Chelsea defender Gary Cahill was one of five players who missed England’s training session on Tuesday.

The England vice-captain is nursing a knock and was absent along with Leighton Baines, Phil Jagielka, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Andros Townsend.

Cahill, who played for the Blues in Saturday’s 2-1 over Liverpool at Anfield, is expected to be passed fit for the European Championship qualifier against Slovenia on Saturday evening.

The 28-year-old has appeared in all but two of Chelsea’s 17 games so far this season, only missing the Champions League games against Maribor.

He has also played four international matches this term.
