Boro expected to seal Kalas loan deal

Chelsea’s Tomas Kalas is expected to rejoin Middlesbrough on a season-long loan deal.

The Czech defender, 22, spent the second half of last season at the Riverside following an unsuccessful loan spell in Germany with Cologne.

Boro boss Aitor Karanka, who was Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho’s assistant at Real Madrid, also signed Patrick Bamford, Kenneth Omeruo and keeper Jamal Blackman on loan from the Blues.

Karanka is keen to have Kalas for the whole of next term and a deal is close to being finalised.
