Blues prospect set to complete loan move

Chelsea striker Patrick Bamford is expected to complete a loan move to Middlesbrough this week.

The 20-year old has impressed during pre-season but with Diego Costa and Didier Drogba joining Fernando Torres as attacking options – and with Romelu Lukaku yet to go back out on loan – Chelsea are keen for Bamford to get regular football.

He had a successful loan stint with Derby County last season, scoring eight goals in 14 starts, and the Rams and several other Championship clubs were keen to sign the England Under-21 international.

But Boro boss Aitor Karanka, who was assistant to Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho at Real Madrid, wants Bamford and has already secured a loan deal for the Blues’ Nigeria international defender Kenneth Omeruo.
