Beaten Blues ‘need to react’ – Mourinho

Jose Mourinho says Chelsea need to quickly put their Champions League exit behind them and focus on winning the Premier League.

A 2-2 draw at Stamford Bridge took 10-man Paris St-Germain through to the quarter-finals on away goals, ending Chelsea’s hopes of regaining the trophy they won in 2012.

But with his team top of the table and closing in on a domestic triumph, Blues boss Mourinho has immediately turned his attention to Sunday’s home game against Southampton.

He said: “We need to react. We have the Premier League to win. There’s no time to cry.

“We must come on Sunday to the same stadium, and the same players have to go on to the pitch and make one more step towards winning the Premier League.

“If we win the Premier League and Capital One Cup this season it will still be a fantastic season for us.”

Mourinho admitted his below-par team did not deserve to beat PSG, who were always a threat despite the 31st-minute dismissal of talisman Zlatan
Ibrahimovic.

“We didn’t deserve to go through,” Mourinho said.

“When a team cannot defend two corners and concedes two goals, a team does not deserve to win. Individual performances were not good enough.”
