Chelsea Ladies full-back Hannah Blundell is refusing to concede the Women’s Super League title to Manchester City.

The Blues are seven points behind City with three matches remaining, after both sides won on Sunday.

Chelsea go to City in the next round of fixtures, on 25 September, needing to win to avoid surrendering the title.

Even then, they would have to beat Reading and Notts County and hope City slip up in their last match against Birmingham to clinch top spot.

But Blundell insists the squad have the character to pile the pressure on City and take the race to the wire.

She told West London Sport: “We’re more than confident within ourselves, with the winners we have in the team, that we can push on and get maximum points from the last few games.

“It’s been challenging. Every week we know we have to get three points, which is added pressure, but the experience we’ve got in our team means we’ve not had any problems with that.”

Blundell is also looking forward to next month’s Champions League tie with Wolfsburg, a repeat of the Blues’ debut in the competition last October, which ended in defeat to the German giants.

But she believes her side can learn the lessons from those games and achieve a better result second time around.

“We’re more experienced now, after our first year’s experience in the Champions League,” Blundell said.

“We know exactly what their strengths are, we know what our strengths are and hopefully we can come away with a result.”
