Two for Pritchard as Bees win friendly

Alex Pritchard scored twice and fellow new signing Andre Gray also found the net as Brentford beat Nice 3-2 in a pre-season friendly at Griffin Park.

Scott Hogan, who also signed this week, from Rochdale, made a brief appearance off the bench in the second half, but limped off 10 minutes later with what looked like an ankle injury.

Former Luton man Gray opened the scoring after just 66 seconds, finishing well after being found by Moses Odubajo’s wayward header, but the visitors equalised immediately when Neal Maupay tapped in from close range.

Pritchard produced some of Brentford’s best attacking play and was rewarded when his free-kick nestled in the bottom corner from 20 yards out midway through the first half.

The on-loan Tottenham youngster then doubled his tally for the afternoon when he hounded Timothee Kolodziejckzak into making a mistake in his own penalty area before chipping over Yoan Cardinal in the Nice goal.

Les Aiglons grabbed a goal back late in the first half, Lloyd Palun’s drilled effort proving too much for Bees’ keeper David Button in one of the French side’s few chances.
