Players starting to settle – Bees boss

Manager Mark Warburton says Brentford’s new foreign signings are startling to settle into English football.

Spanish attacker Jota, signed from Celta Vigo in the summer, scored his first goal for the club as the Bees saw of Leeds 2-0 at Griffin Park.

Marcos Tebar, signed from Almeria, also impressed as a second-half substitute and Waburton says there is more to come from the likes of Jon Toral and Portuguese winger Betinho in the coming weeks.

“I’m starting with Jota – he’s very good player and he scored a great goal inside the box – a great finish, he said.

“I had no hesitation to bring on Marcus Tebar today as well and I was thinking during the game about bringing Jon Toral on wide left, but Alan Judge has playing too well to bring him off.

“These are very talented, technical players who are getting used to the intensity of this league because it demands a lot of you. All of the foreign boys have to adapt. People expect them to come in and do well but its tough.

“The intensity of this league is the one that catches them out. You’ll notice we played Jota for 55 minutes in one game, then 60, 65 and today he played 72 minutes, and he’ll get that intensity in training too.

“He showed some remarkable quality, as has Toral, Betinho and Tebar, and I’m pleased with the great character shown from these players.”

Alan McCormack scored Brentford’s second goal as they bounced back in style from recent heavy defeats at the hands of Norwich and Middlesbrough.

Warburton said: “I’ve never doubted the quality of this squad. We had a tough time last week but we’ve had a great response – I thought it was a dominant performance.”
