Judge pleased to escape Blackburn Rovers nightmare

Blackburn midfielder Alan Judge says he is relishing a new lease of life on loan at Brentford.

The 25-year-old Irishman has joined the Bees until the end of the season after being left out in the cold by Rovers manager Gary Bowyer.

Judge made just six starts for the Lancashire side before moving to Griffin Park but has already made an impact in each of his three appearances for Brentford.

He told West London Sport.“There is nothing better than enjoying your football – I’m loving it here.

“I wasn’t enjoying it at Blackburn. It’s hard to go to training every week knowing there’s no game for you at the weekend.

“I don’t even know what the problem was there to be honest. Someone would have to ask the manager why I wasn’t in his plans. I kept my head down, I was no trouble and I worked hard but it just wasn’t happening.

“That’s not a dig at the manager, he is playing the players he wants to play and that’s fair enough.

“But he knows me and knows I can’t just sit there and not play.”

Judge revealed he turned down a number of Championship clubs to move to Brentford after being impressed with the club’s ambition and current form.

“I had couple of offers from Championship teams, but I just decided to come here – to a team on the up and going for promotion,” Judge explained.

“Some people say it’s not ambitious of me coming down to League One when Championship clubs would have had me.

“But if anyone sees League One there’s not much of a difference. It’s not that far behind.”
