Jozefzoon earns a point for Brentford

Brentford 1 Preston 1

Florian Jozefzoon’s equaliser spared Brentford a third consecutive defeat.

Trailing to Tom Barkhuizen’s goal, the Bees levelled just after the hour mark when Henrik Dalsgaard headed the ball towards Jozefzoon, who turned and fired home.

Preston played the final 16 minutes with 10 men after Greg Cunningham was sent off for a second yellow card.

Shortly after being booked for preventing keeper Dan Bentley from throwing the ball out, Cunningham fouled Jozefzoon and was dismissed.

Brentford piled forward in search of a winner and very nearly found one when Alan Judge’s free-kick was tipped onto the bar by keeper Declan Rudd.

Preston, whose goal came nine minutes into the second half, when Barkhuizen’s in-swinging cross ended up sneaking in at the far post, were put under sustained pressure after the sending-off but held on for a point.
