Hull 3 Brentford 2

Brentford slipped to defeat despite taking the lead at Hull, where all the goals came in he second half.

The Bees looked comfortable throughout a first half in which they enjoyed the majority of the possession. Yet boss Dean Smith was left with much to ponder after seeing his side concede three goals in just 20 minutes.

An own goal from David Meyler – who turned an Ollie Watkins cross into his own net – just two minutes after the break gave the visitors the lead.

Within 10 minutes a great strike from Kamill Grosicki pulled Hull level.

The Tigers then added two goals in quick succession. First, Seb Larsson fired home a free-kick from 25 yards, before Jackson Irvine added the decisive third after the Bees midfield was sliced open.

Captain Jon Egan gave the visitors hope, nodding home from close range after Hull failed to clear a free-kick from substitute Florian Jozefzoon with just three minutes left.

In the first half both Ryan Woods and Neal Maupay had half chances, while Grosicki looked lively for the home side on the left flank.

The first half’s best chance fell to Frazier Campbell, who’s shot on the turn from 10 yards brought a great reflex save out of Dan Bentley.
