Brighton 0 Brentford 2

Scott Hogan’s double earned Brentford a first away victory of the season and took them to within one point of the Championship play-off places.

Brighton, who had not lost at home since New Year’s Day, made a lively start but Hogan put the Bees ahead on the break just before the half-hour when he ran on to a Lewis Macleod pass and beat goalkeeper David Stockdale.

And Hogan made it 2-0 after the interval with another left-foot strike.

Before Hogan’s second of the game Brighton had threatened to draw level, with Anthony Knockaert and Glenn Murray both wasting good chances.

At the other end Stockdale also made a fine save to deny Hogan with the scores at 1-0, while Tomer Hemed came close to an equaliser when his shot was cleared off the line by John Egan.

But Hogan’s second goal put Brentford firmly in control and they eased to victory with little trouble.
