Gray double fires Bees to friendly victory

Andre Gray struck twice to lead Brentford to a 3-0 friendly win at Boreham Wood on Sunday.

New signings Andreas Bjelland, Yoann Barbet, Konstantin Kerschbaumer and Josh McEachran all got 45 minutes under their belt, while development squad players Courtney Senior and Aaron Greene featured in the second half.

All three goals arrived in the first half, with the Bees going ahead after 16 minutes from the spot.

Ben Nunn brought down Gray and the striker sent goalkeeper James Russell the wrong way with the penalty.

They doubled the lead on 33 minutes with a superb 25-yarder from Jota and added a third just before the break when Stuart Dallas squared for Gray to tap in.

Boreham Wood, who were promoted from Conference South last season, had had chances in the first half but they lost their way a little amid the goal rush.

Things were a lot tighter in the second half, although the home side’s substitute goalkeeper Preston Edwards did well to prevent Gray from scoring a hat-trick.

Brentford first half team: Button; Yennaris, Bjelland, Barbet, Bidwell; Douglas, Judge, Diagouraga; Jota, Gray, Dallas.

Brentford second half team: Bonham; Odubajo, Dean, O’Connell, McCormack; McEachran, Kerschbaumer, Diagouraga (Tarkowski 70); Jota (Greene 70), Gray, Senior.
