Bees star Tarkowski disciplined after refusing to play

Brentford are to take action against defender James Tarkowski after he refused to play in Friday night’s Championship game with Burnley.

The centre-back has been the subject of several bids this month, with Burnley among those interested, but all were rejected as they do not meet the Bees’ valuation.

Brentford have also revealed that the bids were substantially lower than one rejected last year.

Sheffield Wednesday are interested in Tarkowski too, while Derby, Norwich and West Brom have also spoken to the player’s agent.

Tarkowski was due to start against the Clarets but told head coach Dean Smith he was making himself unavailable.

A Brentford statement said: “As a result of these actions, he will be disciplined by the club.”
