Jota returns in Bees friendly

Jota is expected to be out of action for some time

Jota marked his first appearance in more than three months with a goal as Brentford beat Tottenham 4-1 in a behind-closed-doors friendly.

The Spaniard came on at half-time while midfielder Josh McEachran – also returning from injury – got 60 minutes under his belt.

Sam Saunders, who is still trying to build up his match fitness, played the whole game, while there were starts for Konstantin Kerschbaumer, Sergi Canos, Andy Gogia, Philipp Hofmann, Jack O’Connell, Yoann Barbet and Tom Field, who was celebrating signing a new contract with the club.

Liverpool loanee Canos, who scored for the first team against Nottingham Forest on Saturday, netted twice inside the first 15 minutes.

Harry Winks pulled one back for Tottenham, before Hofmann – who got the winner against Forest – put Brentford 3-1 up.

Jota rounded off an impressive display by slotting home the rebound after Josh Bohui had seen a saved.
