Gray clinches dramatic Bees victory

Blackburn 2 Brentford 3

Andre Gray netted a late winner at Ewood Park, where Brentford twice came from behind.

Goals from Chris Long and Jota hauled the Bees level after Rudy Gestede and then Chris Taylor had put Blackburn ahead.

And striker Gray’s 15th goal of the season clinched a dramatic victory for Mark Warburton’s promotion-chasing side, who remain sixth in the Championship table.

They got off to a terrible start, failing to deal with Ben Marshall’s quickly-taken free-kick, enabling Gestede to fire home after five minutes.

But they responded strongly and Alan Judge’s free-kick rattled the Rovers bar before Brentford equalised just before half-time when Long’s shot deflected in off the unfortunate Matt Kilgallon.

However, Blackburn regained the lead a little over a minute later when Taylor netted after being teed up by Jordan Rhodes.

Once again the visitors hit back, this time with a marvellous goal by Jota, who ran 60 yards before shooting past keeper Jason Steele.

Jota was also involved in the winner. Steele could only parry the Spaniard’s shot and substitute Gray was on hand to score with ease.

Brentford:  Button, Odubajo, Tarkowski, Dean, Bidwell, Douglas, Pritchard (Toral 77), Dallas, Judge (Diagouraga 64), Jota, Long (Gray 71).
Subs not used: Craig, McCormack, Smith, Bonham.
