Brentford say they have “every confidence” of a positive outcome after Alan Judge underwent successful surgery on his broken leg on Monday night.

Judge suffered the season-ending injury at Ipswich on Saturday after a challenge from Luke Hyam.

The Republic of Ireland international, who will miss Euro 2016, needed nearly 10 minutes of treatment on the pitch before being taken off the field with his right leg in a brace.

He tweeted a picture from his London hospital bed, thanking those who had sent messages of support, and has now had the operation to repair the fracture

Neil Greig, head of Brentford’s medical department, said: “Whilst the injury is clearly significant, Alan has been placed under the care of the leading lower limb consultant in the country, whose experience in managing such injuries in unparalleled.

“As such, there is every confidence that we will achieve a positive outcome.

“Alan is a determined character and I have no doubt that he will commit fully to the challenge of returning fitter and stronger than before.

“He will continue to receive the fullest support from the outstanding group of medical and conditioning staff at Brentford FC during what is clearly a difficult time for him and his family.”
