Warburton not planning to sign Graham

Brentford do not plan to pursue a move for Sunderland striker Danny Graham, manager Mark Warburton has said.

Graham, 29, was touted for a loan switch to Griffin Park but Brentford opted against signing him.

And Warburton seems happy with his options up front after seeing Andre Gray score in the 2-1 win over Derby.

He said: “We always look to add value but we’re not going to bring just another number in.

“Danny Graham I know from Watford and he’s a high-quality player. But it’s about us adding value at the right time and we’re in good shape right now.”

Warburton also explained the continued absence of Betinho, the Portuguese striker on a season-long loan from Sporting Lisbon, who has made just one substitute appearance for the club.

The Bees boss said: “He’s a natural finisher and great in the box but you have to put in a lot of work outside the box, and if you don’t do that at this level, you get punished by a team like Derby.

“One of the first questions from one of the foreign players was ‘what does pressing mean?’, because they’ve never had to do it in their own football.

“It’s a big adjustment and he’ll get better. But, right now, I will use him when the time is right.”
