Douglas close to signing for Ipswich

Brentford midfielder Jonathan Douglas is undergoing a medical ahead of a proposed move to Ipswich.

The 33-year-old is set to sign a one-year contract with the option of a further year – after being told he was no longer wanted at Griffin Park.

Douglas was the mainstay of Brentford’s midfield under both Uwe Rosler and the German’s successor Mark Warburton, making 187 appearances and scoring 17 goals in four years with the club.

The former Republic of Ireland international began his career at Blackburn before spells with Leeds and Swindon.
