Diagouraga signs new deal at Brentford

Brentford midfielder Toumani Diagouraga has agreed a new two-year deal at Griffin Park.

The 27-year-old, whose current contract was due to expire at the end of the season, has impressed in his 12 appearances in the Championship.

He was signed from Peterborough in 2010 and only played 19 times in the Bees’ promotion campaign last season, spending a spell on loan at League Two Portsmouth.

However, since coming back into the side in September, the Frenchman has established himself at the heart of Brentford’s midfield, as the club have broken into the top five of the Championship.

Bees manager Mark Warburton said: “Toumani is a player that has worked tirelessly to break in to the team.

“He faced the challenge of being able to deliver a more consistent level of performance.

“We were aware of his ability but Toumani himself knew that with the move to Championship football the demands on him would grow.

“We are delighted with the way he has responded.”
