Henrik Dalsgaard was stretchered off as Brentford’s miserable start to the season continued.
Sheffield Wednesday came from behind to win at Hillsborough after Nico Yennaris had given the Bees an early lead.
It means Dean Smith’s side are still without a win seven matches into their Championship campaign.
They made a great start, going ahead when Yennaris’ tame volley from the edge of the penalty area found its way past keeper Keiren Westwood.
But Gary Hooper equalised against the run of play in first-half injury time and Jordan Rhodes set up Ross Wallace for Wednesday’s winner on 70 minutes.
It was tough on Brentford, who went close through Neal Maupay during a lively spell after they had opened the scoring.
And there was concern for summer signing Dalsgaard, who was led away in stoppage time following lengthy treatment on the pitch.
