Dallas gives Bees first Championship win

Blackpool 1 Brentford 2

Stuart Dallas scored Brentford’s winner as they came from behind to clinch their first Championship victory.

Nathan Delfouneso’s 17th-minute goal put Blackpool ahead before on-loan Tottenham youngster Alex Pritchard equalised with a fine strike.

Dallas netted early in the second half, showing great determination to rob defender Donervon Daniels and finish well – his third goal of the season.

Brentford started impressively but switched off and were punished when Francois Zoko chipped the ball towards an unmarked Delfouneso, who headed in from 10 yards out.

But the Bees hit back eight minutes before the break.

Moses Odubajo cut in from the right and found Pritchard, who fired into the bottom corner from near the edge of the box with the outside of his right boot.

Pritchard then had an effort saved and the visitors were well on top before a mistake by James Tarkowski almost handed the lead back to Blackpool late in the first half.

Tarkowski over-committed himself and failed to stop Ishmael Miller – unlike the outstanding Tony Craig, who came to his team-mate’s rescue with a superb last-ditch challenge.

Mark Warburton’s side reasserted themselves after the restart and took the lead on 53 minutes.

Daniels attempted to shepherd the ball away from Dallas but the in-form Northern Irishman got the better of him and curled into the net from a tricky angle.

Blackpool staged a strong finish but were unable to deny Brentford a first win in the second tier since April 1993.

David Perkins cleverly exchanged passes with Tony McMahon but his shot was comfortably saved by David Button and the Bees keeper also kept out an effort from Edu Oriol.

And Pritchard could have made it 3-1 but was just unable to add the finishing touch following good work on the left by recent signing Jota, who looked lively after coming on for his debut.
