Bees have to settle for draw at Carlisle

Carlisle 0 Brentford 0

Injury-hit strugglers Carlisle produced a battling performance to prevent Brentford returning to winning ways.

The Bees, looking to bounce back from last weekend’s 3-0 defeat against promotion rivals Wolves, went close to scoring through Alan Judge.

Striker Clayton Donaldson curled an effort wide as Mark Warburton’s side continued to press, but the Cumbrians stood firm.

In fact they created openings of their own, with goalkeeper David Button called into action to produce saves from David Amoo, Liam Noble and Sam Byrne during a second-half spell in which the visitors had to absorb pressure.

The result leaves Warburton’s men three points off the automatic promotion spots after both Wolves and Leyton Orient won at home.

And Preston and Rotherham made up ground on the third-placed Bees, who were the only team in the top five not to win.

Brentford: Button; Yennaris, Tarkowski, Craig, Bidwell; Forshaw, Douglas, Saville; Donaldson, Trotta (Grigg 72), Judge.
Subs not used: Lee, Calvet, O’Connor, Hutton, Reeves, Fillo.
