Wolves 0 Brentford 2

Brentford earned back-to-back league victories for the first time this season after an impressive display at Molineux.

Marco Djuricin opened the scoring on 17 minutes, his shot deflecting off Danny Batth and looping over Wolves keeper Damian Martinez.

Brentford had earned their half-time lead but Wolves piled on the pressure late in the game, Benik Afobe missing their best chance as he sliced over from close range.

And substitute Philipp Hofmann wrapped up the victory after rounding keeper Damian Martinez to lift Lee Carsley’s side up five places into 15th.

Brentford were much the better side in the first half, Alan Judge looking particularly sharp and Djuricin a constant menace to the Wolves defence.

And they combined to put the Bees ahead, Judge playing in the Austrian who got the break his side deserved with the deflected effort.

Wolves were limited in the first half to off-target efforts from James Henry and Adam Le Fondre, and a shot by Sheyi Ojo pushed away by Bees keeper David Button.

Brentford also started well after the break but a double change from Wolves sparked them back into life and they threatened in the final 15 minutes.

After Afobe skied his big chance, Adam Le Fondre toed an effort into the hands of Button and Wolves also squandered several corners.

Brentford threatened on the break, with Konstantin Kerschbaumer pulling a shot wide, but they wrapped up the points when Hofmann – who had just been denied by Martinez – skipped away from the keeper and rolled the ball home.

Brentford: Button; Yannaris, Dean, Tarkowski, Bidwell; McCormack (Kerschbaumer 78), Diagouraga; Judge, Woods (Canos 71), Swift; Djuricin (Hofmann 75).
