Brentford swoop for Odubajo and Gray

Brentford have bolstered their attack with the capture of highly-rated winger Moses Odubajo from Leyton Orient and Luton Town marksman Andre Gray, while goalkeeper David Button has signed a new three-year contract.

Odubajo, who scored 12 goals to help Orient reach the League One play-off final, has completed a move after the Bees paid an undisclosed fee for the 20-year-old.

He didn’t miss a single league game last season and had attracted attention from Premier League clubs.

England C striker Gray, 23, scored 30 times in 44 Conference Premier matches to fire Luton back into the Football League and will offset the departure of Clayton Donaldson to Birmingham.

Both players have signed three-year deals and Brentford boss Mark Warbuton said he was delighted to have brought the pair to Griffin Park.

He said: “Moses is a young player, not yet 21, with a lot of development potential.

“He has excellent physical abilities and a real desire to move forward in the game. I am delighted to secure his signature and I am sure he will prove to be an exciting addition to our squad.

“Andre has tremendous pace, good movement and a clear eye for goal. We have no doubts he will make a very positive impact at Championship level.”

Odubajo was one of the standout performers in League One last season and his signing represents a coup for the Bees, with top-flight clubs said to be monitoring him.

He came through the youth ranks at Orient, making his first-team debut in September 2011.

After loan spells in non-League with Sutton United and Bishop’s Stortford, the Greenwich-born winger established himself in the Orient side and, in total, made 116 appearances for the club.

He opened the scoring in the League One play-off final against Rotherham United but the Os lost on penalties.

Gray started his career at Shrewsbury Town, making his debut as an 18-year-old on the opening day of the 2009-10 season.

He then moved on to Hinckley, where his goals in Conference North attracted the attention of Luton, who signed him in March 2012, initially on loan before making it permanent that summer.

In just over two years at Kenilworth Road, Gray scored 52 goals in 97 league appearances, which earned him six call-ups to the England C team, made up of the best non-League players.

The arrivals of Odubajo and Gray mean Brentford have now added four players to their squad since promotion, following the signings of Blackburn’s Alan Judge and Marcos Tebar from Almeria.
